Posted in SpringHere it is the 12th of June and it still feels cool, and until these past few days very dry. The lawns have been under stress, pressure from disease, and drought have created some pretty sick looking lawns. Red Thread and Leaf Spot are rampant. Hopefully the weather will change a bit and we’ll get some recovery from these problems. We are in the process of making our second application which for some of you includes grub proofing, remember this application should be watered in.
Posted in SpringOn April 22 we found Chinch Bugs on a large property in Enfield Ct. I hope this is not an indication of what is comming,
Posted in SpringApril 22, 2009 was Earth Day and as planned we took part in a national day of service, promoting the impact of healthy lawns on our enviroment. Some of the benifits of a healthy lawn are increased property value, lawns cool the atmoshere, and act as a great filtration system, and converts carbon dioxide to oxygen.
Tags: Earth Day LawnsWe’re off and running with our 35th season. Our lawn technicians are out making your first applications so you will be seeing them in the next few weeks. One of the first things that we have seen this spring is the large amount of snow mold and mice damage that occurred over the winter. Snow mold looks like yellow matted down patches in the lawn areas and mice damage looks like squiggly yellow trails in the lawn. (To find out more information about snow mold visit www.umassturf.org .) As the weather warms up, those areas will start to heal. To help the recovery, lightly rake out those areas.
Please remember that the first application is a pre-emergent crabgrass control so please don’t plan to do any spot seeding as the pre-emergent prevents all seed germination.
Our irrigation crews are out as well. Although - - - - I think you’d have to agree that it’s probably not much fun right now starting sprinklers all day when the weather is a nice balmy 40 degree rainy day. We will not be starting residential systems for a couple weeks when things warm up a bit.

That is exciting stuff when I think about it, I’ m amazed. I sometimes forget about some of the people or relationships that have developed over the years. I think it’s interesting how some of what might have been considered the most insignificant meeting or relationships have influenced me the most. Well its been a great ride to this point, and I expect the future to be even better. I look forward to more opportunities to meet with you and provide you with a more personal approach to lawn care.
Some things that we have done over the last few months include, spruced up our newsletter with a new name and new look, CMS CURB APPEAL, an enhanced CMS REFFERRAL PROGRAM and our IMPROVED WEBSITE. WWW.CMSLandscaping.com ckeck it all out on the website.
